Meir Sheetrit, former Israeli Minister of Interior<\/p>\n

Raat \u2013 The Moroccan Observatory for Anti-Normalization<\/a> with Israel has strongly condemned the participation of former Israeli Minister of Interior Meir Sheetrit at the 12th annual World Policy Conference (WCP<\/a>) in Marrakech<\/a>, held on October 12-14.<\/p>\n

The observatory issued a statement on Tuesday, October 15, saying \u201c a new zionist penetration in Marrakech with the participation of terrorist Meir Sheetrit, the former Minister of the Interior and Zionist at an international seminar.\u201d<\/p>\n

The observatory complained that \u201cZionists started considering Morocco as a paradise of normalization.\u201d The statement criticized the government of Morocco for the \u201cintentional confusion between Moroccans\u201d and \u201cthe Moroccan diaspora in Israel<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement added that Sheetrit is \u201cone of them [one of the Moroccan diaspora in Israel] since he was\u00a0 born in the region of Errachidia mid-last century.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several Moroccan movements, including the anti-normalization observatory, have been active in condemning any move to normalize ties with Israel.<\/p>\n

Morocco\u2019s government has long repeated its \u201cconstant\u201d position, denying any change in relations with Israel.<\/p>\n

Moroccans heavily criticized the visit of Jared Kushner, President Trump\u2019s son-in-law and senior adviser this summer.<\/p>\n

The visit raised concerns among critics, suggesting that Kushner\u2019s visit aimed to seek support for the US-led Middle East Peace Plan.<\/p>\n

Morocco\u2019s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita, however, denied that Kushner\u2019s visit touched on the Deal fo Century. He said that the visit concerned other topics, including means to strengthen the US-Morocco diplomatic ties.<\/p>\n

Head of Government Saad Eddine El Othmani reiterated Morocco\u2019s position regarding Palestine last month. He said that Morocco and King Mohammed VI\u00a0 have stated their \u201cclear position that all attempts to undermine the status of Jerusalem<\/a> are unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

In letters and statements from King Mohammed VI Morocco has officially \u201cexpressed rejection for the deal of the century once for all,\u201d El Othmani added.<\/p>\n

The Moroccan government and King Mohammed VI<\/a> have always expressed their full support for the Palestinian cause.<\/p>\n

The Palestinian Authority categorically rejected the US-led initiative.<\/p>\n

Moroccan movements, especially the anti-normalization observatory, called for protests against the \u201cDeal of the Century.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thousands of Moroccans rallied in Rabat in June to denounce US policy in Palestine.<\/p>\n

The protesters condemned the \u201cmaneuvers aimed at the Palestinian cause to liquidate the rights of the people; including hostilities in Al6Quds and the Goland and the rest of the occupied territories.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morocco under the leadership of the\u00a0 King<\/a> also was among the first countries to warn the US and the United Nations after US President Donald Trump<\/a> decided to recognize Jerusalem <\/a>as the capital of Israel.<\/p>\n
