Avant d\u2019entrer au CFR, il a fond\u00e9 puis dirig\u00e9 le centre pour la politique am\u00e9ricano-cor\u00e9enne de l\u2019Asia Foundation et a \u00e9t\u00e9 repr\u00e9sentant de cette fondation en Cor\u00e9e (2000-2004). Il a \u00e9crit de nombreux ouvrages sur la politique cor\u00e9enne ainsi que sur le r\u00e9gionalisme asiatique et tient un blog intitul\u00e9 Asia Unbound.
