{"id":4022,"date":"2014-12-09T17:39:31","date_gmt":"2014-12-09T16:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.worldpolicyconference.com\/?p=4022"},"modified":"2015-01-13T10:50:07","modified_gmt":"2015-01-13T09:50:07","slug":"unification-of-korean-peninsula-will-contribute-to-world-peace-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldpolicyconference.com\/fr\/unification-of-korean-peninsula-will-contribute-to-world-peace-security\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00ab\u00a0Unification of Korean Peninsula will contribute to world peace, security\u00a0\u00bb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Park Geun-hye emphasized that the unification of the Korean Peninsula would greatly contribute to strengthening global governance and peace and security around the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnification will bring a bonanza to not only Korea, but also to Northeast Asia and to the whole world,\u201d said President Park, while asking for the support of the international community at the seventh World Policy Conference held in Seoul on December 8.\u00a0<i><\/i><\/p>\n<p>President Park said that her administration&rsquo;s Korean Peninsula trust-building process, its push for peace and cooperation in Northeast Asia and its Eurasian initiative are the three directions of the Korean government\u2019s \u00ab\u00a0trustpolitik.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the Korean Peninsula trust-building process, the drive for peace and cooperation in Northeast Asia and the Eurasian initiative are all successful, it will open a channel for trust and peace on the Korean Peninsula and create new growth in the international community,\u201d said the president.\u00a0<i><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Park&rsquo;s proposal to build trust among Northeast Asian countries is aimed at solving the region&rsquo;s issues, as the countries there continue to be involved in conflict and create tension over historical and territorial issues. She emphasized her view by saying that, \u201cFor multilateral cooperation in Northeast Asia, Korea, China and Japan need to gather their power. The Korean government will do its part by hosting a trilateral foreign ministers\u2019 meeting which could lead to a trilateral summit.\u201d\u00a0<i><\/i><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen major economies fall into long-term economic depression, it can shake our belief in universal values such as democracy, human rights and a market economy. At a time like this, the world needs to become one community, respecting human rights and democracy, building trust and bolstering cooperation among countries and other players,\u201d said the president.\u00a0<i><\/i><\/p>\n<p>In this regard, she said that, \u201cKorea has been contributing to solving international issues, such as achieving the Millennium Development Goals and the U.N.\u2019s development goals after 2015, and establishing a post-2020 New Climate Regime.
