World Policy Conference<\/a>\u00a0(WPC) in the Swiss city of Montreux.<\/p>\nHe added that in spite of the new shift in the political order in the region, some long-standing issues have remained the same, the most important of which is the repeated intervention of trans-regional powers in the Middle East affairs; \u201cthese interferences are often in the form of military intervention which only makes the situation in West Asia all the more complicated,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Middle East in its current transitional phase needs a new security order which can be effective only via endogeneity, collective efforts by all governments and consideration of regional people\u2019s legitimate demands,\u201d said the Iranian diplomat.<\/p>\n
Amir-Abdollahian voiced his regret over the fact that national and pro-democratic uprisings in the region had been offset by terrorists and due to the inaccurate understanding of some neighboring countries\u2019 leaders of domestic developments, \u2018weapon and terror\u2019 have become the\u00a0deciding factor for nations\u2019 future as opposed to \u2018ballot boxes.\u2019<\/p>\n
Elsewhere in his speech, the Iranian official focused on the crisis of terrorism in the region, saying \u201cthe atrocities committed by the ISIL bear testament to the fact that the gravest threat in today\u2019s world is if terrorist organizations should turn into terrorist governments.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Takfiri terrorism that has tarnished world security and targeted all nations and religions is the result of interventionist and irresponsible behavior of some regional and trans-regional players in the Middle East and North Africa,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Amir-Abdollahian stressed that following Iran\u2019s nuclear accord and Syrian government\u2019s agreement to chemical weapons disarmament, now it is time for the international community to \u2018seriously put on agenda the demand for the disbarment of the occupying Zionist regime.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, the Iranian diplomat noted that all countries were needed to put forward a common plan for rooting out terrorism, adding\u00a0\u201cterrorists’ access to financial resources, advanced weapons and military training camps must be blocked and eliminated.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n
Amir-Abdollahian then leveled harsh criticism at Saudi Arabia for its military aggression in Yemen, saying the Islamic Republic backs Geneva talks and UN measures for holding Yemeni-Yemeni dialogues and the formation of an\u00a0all-inclusive government of national unity in the war-stricken country.<\/p>\n
