Bart Edes

Policy analyst and commentator on international development and trade, Asian economies, communications, and strategic foresight/futures. Édes is a Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, and Professor of Practice at McGill University’s Institute for the Study of International Development. Between 2001 and 2020, he held various leadership positions with the Asian Development Bank, overseeing stakeholder engagement, education, health, technology for development, inclusive business, governance, gender equality, social development, knowledge management, and relations with North America. In earlier roles, Édes served as a principal communications officer at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development; media entrepreneur, journalist, and economic researcher in Central Europe; and economist specializing in U.S. international trade and foreign direct investment policies. He has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from Georgetown University.
