Pierre Morel

Former diplomat; Co-Chair of the Pharos Observatory of Cultural and Religious Pluralism, established in 2011. He joined the Quai d’Orsay in 1971; was appointed Director of Political Affairs in 1985, then Ambassador to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva (1986–1990); Diplomatic Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic (1991–1992); subsequently Ambassador of France to Moscow in 1992, to Beijing in 1996, and to the Holy See from 2002 to 2005. He served as European Union Special Representative for Central Asia (2006–2012) and for the crisis in Georgia (2008–2011); and later as Coordinator of the political group of the OSCE Minsk negotiations on Ukraine from 2014 to 2021.
